My background color has taken over my desktop. When I go into the desktop option on the display properties I can see the image in the preview box, but any attempt to make it as the desktop picture don't work, it just stays as the background color. I've run virus scans and malware programs but nothing seems to work.

Where you see the picture you want highlighted, click on another one and then back again. Reboot.

If that doesn't work, you could try the desktop repair option in SuperAntiSpyware.

Let us know how you get on.

Good luck, Cheers

Hello.

If that doesn't work, you could try the desktop repair option in SuperAntiSpyware.

Rob, do you know how exactly that works? Seems like an userful feature. Thanks for showing me anyways.

If that doesn't do the trick we can try to merge the original default values for the desktop into your registry.

Just to make sure, are you running Pro or Home edition of XP?

With Regards,
The Panda

Hello. By the way, Welcome to Bleeping Computer.

OK I can't seem to find any info on that desktop repair option Rob metioned, so let's try to reset the registry keys for your desktop. This may change some settings back to default such as the screen saver.

Hi Panda.

I'm afraid I have no idea how the SAS repair works, just that it did for me at one stage when I kept losing my Active Desktop and had to use the 'change and back' tip above.

Cheers
