I am running Vista Home Premium on a laptop, and on the left hand side of the Taskbar, there are a couple of programmes running, one of which is Windows Media player. How do I remove this from the taskbar? I have gone into system configuration and gone into start up but its not there.
Any ideas

They are only shortcuts, right click and delete it, if you want them back again they will be in the recycle bin, just restore them

Does that mean Media Player is not actually running in the background?

Hi Paulrenno.

You are probably looking at the Quick Launch area where you can drag and drop the icon from any program to have it readily available, and yes, the program is not running - it will be further along in the taskbar when that is happening.

You may find this useful
