We had the Sophos virus protection program on our machine, and it would detect viruses, adware, and malware-but it would not allow us to get rid of them. So I uninstalled it and installed AVG, which detected the corrupted files and deleted them. Since doing so, I have not been able to open any programs on my computer. I keep getting this message "C:\WINNT\system32\rundll32.exe" and I tried opening msconfig to restore the file-but I can not even open that. I also can not open AVG, and I get this message "Windows can not access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item." Its extremely frustrating because I am not sure how to fix it. HELP!!

I am also running on XP, any other information you need, just ask.
