Hii i posted a topic before but did it wrong so ill describe the problem to you again.

My brother accepted a file from a friend and did a virus scan which said it had not found any viruses on the file.

He then opened the file and then was notified by friends of some file being sent to them which i think is under the action of the virus.

Everytime i open Windows Messenger, in the C: drive where the folders of Programme Files and others, a Notepad file named "msn" will appear there which i think has something to do with the virus?

When MSN isnt opened the file doesnt appear there so im guessing it only affects MSN.

Please could you advise me on what to do next.

Thanks.

Sorry about before.

Hi Boopme,

I have Symantec Endpoint Protection for my antivirus and Lavasoft Ad-Aware SE Protection (Spyware toll) installed but this i dont use often.

My operating system is Windows XP Professions (SP2).

I turned on the computer now and it keeps showing the Endpoints Notifications which are happening non-stop.

What type of notifications? Please be specific as to what they say.

The notification says different things each time it pops up... Some say a random email address cant send something out because its blocked by Endpoint.

I left my computer on to go uni and it seemed to have stopped after removing Windows Messenger.
