Burning A .toast File To Be Bootable For A Mac

i have a fairly old mac that i need to update.. i have a mac os 'toast' file on my xp machine.

does anyone know if there are any specifics i need to follow to burn this .toast file to a dvd in order to ensure that it is bootable for the mac?
