You need to match the resolutions to get a good picture. Your HD Tv is either a 720P (1280 x 720) 1080i (1920 x 1080 interlaced) 1080P (1920 x 1080 ) 2160P ( 3840 x 1060) the later being extremely expensive. What video card are you using? If your only using a VGA connection its only analog and won't look good on a High def TV. You would need a video card with DVI or HDMI support and depending on the connections on your TV the subsequent adapters.
