I was briefly hijacked today, I say briefly because my spyware blaster spotted it before it could do any serious damage. I was wondering if someone could just take a quick look at this hijack this log to double chech it for me:

Fix these:

R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = http://www.findwhatevernow.com/searchband2
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [SearchSetter] C:\WINDOWS\System32\searchsetter[1].exe

Reboot into safe mode and delete these:

C:\WINDOWS\System32\searchsetter[1].exe

Reboot and post a last log

Just fix these:

R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = about:blank
R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page =
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page =

Then you should be clean.

Now that you are clean, please follow this simple step and use the following programs:

Visit http://www.windowsupdate.com regularly. This will ensure that you have the latest patches for your operating system installed. If there are new updates to install, install all the critical updates, reboot and revisit the site until there are no more critical updates.

I would strongly advise you download and install SpywareBlaster and Spybot (With TeaTimer)

Tutorials and download locations for each programs can be found below. They will help to prevent a lot of future reinfections.

Using SpywareBlaster to protect your web browser

Using Spybot - Search & Destroy to remove Spyware from Your Computer

Glad i was able to help.

I have cleaned up the things you told me to and all seems fine. Thanks a million. I already run Spyware Blaster and Spybot although not with the TeaTime on and SpySweeper. Just a quick question if I may. I also have BPS Spyware Remover which I know is a contoversial product at best but before I uninstall the program I keep getting these mesages from its SpyWatch:

8:47:52 AM Warning! Hijacker.CoolWebSearch Key detected: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\ZoneMap\Domains\coolwwwsearch.com\

8:47:54 AM Warning! Possible Browser Hijack attempt Key detected: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\ZoneMap\Domains\xxxtoolbar.com\

Are these legitimate problems? When I run Spybot I find nothing but when I run BPS Spyware Remover it finds 2 hijacks. Could the problem be in the program itself?

Thanks for shedding any light on this.

Those are fine. Those are because spywareblaster added those domains to your restricted sites list. Thats hwy we do not like these programs as they cause false positives and therefore people buy the program for no reason.

Thanks for clearing that up for me. So when it deletes them what does it delete exactly?

If it deletes those entries you are actually lose the protection they were giving you. You should uninstall that software and not use it.
