I' m not sure that I am following you correctly. Are you trying to un-install IE7 or just add-ons? What Service Pack do you have currently installed?
Does this look like an OldGrumpyBastard or what?

For information about IE7 and SP3 read the following:

http://blogs.msdn.com/ie/archive/2008/05/0...-and-xpsp3.aspx

You will more than likely have to un-install SP3 before you un-install IE7. If it was me I would do this then re-install SP3.
After doing this I guess that I would have to make a decision on whether or not to install IE7 again...You claim that you had similar problem with SP2 installed. I'm not sure what to tell you about how to fix the errors outside of just removing it altogether and see what IE6 does for you...
