I have a Toshiba Satellite A105-S4094 running Windows XP.......or at least it was!

I'm trying to startup my laptop and all I'm getting is a black screen with my cursor pointer on it.

I've tried to start in safe mode, pressing f8 as I push the power on, nothing!

Any suggestions?

Thank you in advance.

Try running the fixmbr command from the Recovery Console.

I finally let it sit for awhile and then went back to it, so that it didn't end up through a window.

It gave me the start up screen to which I pressed f8. It gave me 2 options, I picked the second one. Sorry I don't remember what the choices were.

It's working fine now.
