I'm not sure if i should have asked this in the apps forum or this one... I have a couple of programs on my computer like steam, Windows Messenger, skype, and a few others that like to start immediately when i start my computer. The problem is that i only use these programs every once in a while, and i would prefer it if i could just start them manually when i wanted to use them. I looked through the options and settings in a couple of places, but didn't see anywhere to turn off the auto-start. Is it something i have to do in the registry?

Try this free program: http://www.mlin.net/StartupCPL.shtml
Use the standalone version and put it on your Desktop.

That should take care of most of the startups - if not, here's a more complicated tool (free also): http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sysintern...s/Autoruns.mspx
My browser caused a flood of traffic, sio my IP address was banned. Hope to fix it soon. Will get back to posting as soon as Im able.
