Search Companion

I am running windows xp media center edition 2005 and i was wondering whats wrong with my search companion

when i go to start > search

it brings me to my search and there is a little dog that runs up and im supposed to have buttons that i can click on like search all files and folders and such
but now when i click on it the blue bar where the dog is isnt there anymore when i click file all it gives me is close i cant click on edit or anything

any and all help is greatly appreciated

Try this: Start>Search...When the window opens up click on the magnifying glass and see if "Rover" comes home...
Does this look like an OldGrumpyBastard or what?

Try reinstalling search companion:

1. Log on to the computer by using an account with administrator permissions.
2. Click Start, click Run, type %systemroot%\inf, and then click OK.
3. Locate the Srchasst.inf file.
4. Right-click the Srchasst.inf file, and then click Install. This reinstalls the files that Search Companion uses.

NOTE: You may need your Windows XP CD-ROM to finish installing Search Companion...

i dont have a windows cd

my computer just came with windows

and its an hp computer wich means i didnt get anything i needed with the computer

i even had to BUY the recovery discs for 50 bucks becasue they dont ship them with the computers

when i do what you (juha) said i get this

The file 'msgr3en.dll' on windows xp professional
service pack 2 CD is needed

Type the path where the file is located and then click

Copy files from:

when i click ok nothing happens
the window flashes for a second and reapears
