Hello,
I've been looking around this site for a while. Here is my problem. This all started a few months ago when i noticed that my homepage on Internet Explorer and sometimes Firefox was being over taken by something called "smart zone" at the time i thought it was something good it said it was for helping with virus' and i thought that is why it did not go away. So over time other things started to mess up. I thought it was an aim virus or something. Because when I'm on my AIM by its self it will send everyone on y buddy list a link and then close by itself. This happened a lot until i deleted both AIM and MSN from my computer. I tried to work hijackthis and follow other examples on how to fix my computer to no avail. The only way that msconfig and hijackthis works is in safe mode. I did try to run my adaware and spybot and they say that they found a virus but are not able to delete it. I'm not very good with technicalities so i'm not sure what to delete from my hijackthis scan. I have the older version apparently but i can't seem to download the newer version and it froze another computer i was trying to download it to my flash drive and put it onto my other computer. I tried to upload that log but i got an error message from this site. Can anyone help me?

I'm trying to find some more data on this.
In the meanwhile is this an XP machine?

Please run a quickscan with this.
If Vista, Run As Administrator

Please download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and save it to your desktop.
alternate download link 1
alternate download link 2
  • Make sure you are connected to the Internet.
  • Double-click on Download_mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
  • When the installation begins, follow the prompts and do not make any changes to default settings.
  • When installation has finished, make sure you leave both of these checked:
    • Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
    • Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
  • Then click Finish.
  • MBAM will automatically start and you will be asked to update the program before performing a scan. If an update is found, the program will automatically update itself. Press the OK button to close that box and continue. If you encounter any problems while downloading the updates, manually download them from here and just double-click on mbam-rules.exe to install.
  • On the Scanner tab:
    • Make sure the "Perform Quick Acan" option is selected.
    • Then click on the Scan button.
  • If asked to select the drives to scan, leave all the drives selected and click on the Start Scan button.
  • The scan will begin and "Scan in progress" will show at the top. It may take some time to complete so please be patient.
  • When the scan is finished, a message box will say "The scan completed successfully. Click 'Show Results' to display all objects found".
  • Click OK to close the message box and continue with the removal process.
  • Back at the main Scanner screen, click on the Show Results button to see a list of any malware that was found.
  • Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • When removal is completed, a log report will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to restart your computer. (see Note below)
  • The log is automatically saved and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
  • Copy and paste the contents of that report in your next reply and exit MBAM.
Note: If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts. Click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process. If asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately. Failure to reboot will prevent MBAM from removing all the malware.

Since netstat.com, taskkill.com was found on your system, please do this.

Please print out and follow the instructions for using SDFix in BC's self-help tutorial "How to use SDFix".
-- When using this tool, you must use the Administrator's account or an account with "Administrative rights"
-- Disconnect from the Internet and temporarily disable your anti-virus and any anti-malware real time protection before performing a scan.

When done, the SDFix report log will open in notepad and automatically be saved in the SDFix folder as Report.txt. Please copy and paste the contents of Report.txt in your next reply. Be sure to renable you anti-virus and and other security programs before connecting to the Internet.

Just do the SDFix . It has to be done from safe mode. Please read the instructions and follow them carefully.
