My family are connected to BT wireless broadband, and I have been using the following USB adapter to pick up the internet in my bedroom three floors away from the port:

I was just wondering, if I was to buy a cheaper USB adapter, would it work okay, or do I have to buy the above to use the internet connection? What do I need to look out for when shopping?

Many thanks,

You might take a look at http://compnetworking.about.com/od/hardwar...ssadapter_3.htm

Seems to be just like any other computer product: You figure out what you want it to do or what capabilities you want...then you use Google to do a few price/feature comparisons...then you buy .

I suggest www.newegg.com and www.tigerdirect.com as initial sources for what might be available. I would also add www.bizrate.com as more comprehensive source of what's available.

I see you're from the UK. What other wireless providers are there in your area?

Having grandkids is God's way of giving you a 2nd chance because you were too busy working your butt off the 1st time around
