Click Start --> select Run --> In the box, type cmd --> press ENTER --> Run the chkdsk utility by typing in the following command:

chkdsk /f

Hi Juha
I have tried what you said, and now the following message appears:

The type of the file sys is NTFS. cannot lock current drive chkdsk
cannot run because the volumne is in use by another process.

would you like to schedule this volumne to be checked the next time sys restarts (Y/N)

thanks

If this is a cable modem, unplug it for 30 seconds and then plug it back in. That should reboot it.
