Hi there,

* Please set your system to show
all files; please see here if you're unsure how to do this.

* Download LQfix.zip
Unzip it and save it to your desktop, don't use it yet!!

* Start HijackThis, close all open windows leaving only HijackThis running. Place a check against each of the following:

R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant =
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,CustomizeSearch =
O2 - BHO: ohb - {988CAFC4-DC0D-4D8C-A35E-5028ABE9E641} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\ic2_win.dll (file missing)
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {D4F3575B-31E2-4082-8F24-FACB2F963CF3} - C:\Program Files\b1l98wek\b1l98wek.dll (file missing)
O2 - BHO: SDWin32 Class - {E3CB662B-CC40-43A7-BCEB-A2C82EDAA26B} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\sgequ.dll (file missing)
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [zpnerd] c:\windows\system32\zpnerd.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [tuhcz] C:\WINDOWS\tuhcz.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [sgequc] C:\WINDOWS\system32\sgequc.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [rF6T3Fi] amstsrv.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [98D0CE0C16B1] rundll32.exe D0CE0C16B1,D0CE0C16B1
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [etbrun] C:\windows\system32\eliteclw32.exe

* Click on Fix Checked when finished and exit HijackThis.

* Reboot into Safe Mode`:
°To get into the Safe mode as the computer is booting press and hold your "F8 Key". Use your arrow keys to move to "Safe Mode" and press your Enter key.

Using Windows Explorer, locate the following files/folders, and delete them if present:

C:\Program Files\b1l98wek <== this folder
c:\windows\system32\zpnerd.exe
C:\WINDOWS\tuhcz.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\sgequc.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\D0CE0C16B1
C:\WINDOWS\system32\temperror32.dat
C:\windows\EliteToolbar or EliteSidebar <== this folder

* Doubleclick LQfix.bat that you saved on your desktop before.
A doswindow will open and close again, this is normal.

* Reboot your system back to normal mode

Post back a fresh HijackThis log and I'll take another look.

Hi there,
I tried to fix the entries you told me to fix. I could fix only some of them but these entries wont go
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant =
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,CustomizeSearch =
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [etbrun] C:\windows\system32\eliteclw32.exe
They are appearing again. Dont know what to do. I have downloaded LQfix.bat also but the computer wont boot in safe mode. I tried to find the files and folders that you mentioned in normal mode only as the computer is not booting in safe mode, I could find only C:\WINDOWS\system32\temperror32.dat but difficult to delete. Please suggest how can I make my computer boot in safe mode and how to get rid of the rest. The problem is still there. Here is how the log looked after fixing some of the items:

Hi,

As long you can't boot your system in safe mode and run LQfix, it wont work because those files are only visible in safe mode. :-(

Please read here for other alternatives to boot in safe mode: http://www.pchell.com/support/safemode.shtml

Hi
I followed the link given and tried one of the suggestions there to boot in safe mode. That was to goto Start-----> Run---> msconfig---------->safeboot. Restart the computer. But its not starting in any mode now forget about the safe mode. It will Start go a little bit and then reboot. The worst part is I dont have even the bootable CD/floppy with me. I have no clue as what to do. My computer is completely dead. Any suggestions????????????

It seems like your system is really corrupt.
So you can't either boot in normal mode or safe mode?
Are there any errors you get? And you don't have even your original XP cdrom? Hmm.. you really need it to go into Recovery Console to perform chkdsk /r or FIXBOOT
Also read here to get several options to repair it.
