Hey, got this malware/trojan/virus from accepting something that was supposedly on porn tube and claimed to be something like an activex requirement. It did seem a little different but it was well prepared so I hit save. The first signs were a clear pop up adware issue trying to pretend like it wasn't the very same process that was popping up about three explorer windows at a time. I tried searching for what I could get rid of and found no new application to remove. I was getting a "system alert: malware threat" bubble and a flashing blue and red shield that were the cause of most of the problem. I tried to right click and end, but they just reacted more violently. I do use this computer for things that are dangerous for this situation, like my online banking, but I'm hoping that since I don't usually get this sort of problem, and since I haven't visited such sites since the problem started, I should be ok.
It's been attacking me with windows internet explorer, so I've stuck to using firefox. I went and ran a AVG free virus scan and it got rid of a commwarrior trojan and something else that I deleted before I could remember to keep it's name in mind. This resolved most of the effects. At one point I also saw the toolbar on windows internet explorer being used for these purposes and two urls showed up on my desktop in the shape of windows protection shields that I had never seen there before. The toolbar is now back to normal, but when i open a windows internet explorer window, it freaks out and wont accept loading the page (I've only tried this offline). I can take pics of the bubbles that I'm getting but I'm not sure how to attach them to this topic since it wants only a url.
I followed the instructions here
and found that none of the items on the list were present, so I followed futher instructions to post here. Can you help?
