What words are highlighted? Can you provide an example? Is this happening only in Internet Explorer? A little more information will aid our members in helping you.
Regards,
John

If you put your cursor over the highlighted word does it show as a link?

Depending on the browser you are using you may also see a double underline of
some words. It is advertising.

"It is a third-party technology created and distributed through Vibrant Media Incorporated, developed to locate keywords & phrases found within text and link them to relevant commercial information. IntelliTXT is identified with a double-underline and all corresponding text ads are clearly marked with “Advertisement” or “Sponsored Link”.

Thanks again. Is there anyway that I can get rid of it? Probably not. Bill

Sorry, there is no way to remove it.

It is a part of the advertising that helps in a small way to keep BC operating as a free site.

Edit: Yes, that is the parent corporation of IntelliTXT technology...

Hey Koan...what's up friend?!?!?

So....Am I to understand that this TOTALLY ANNOYING THING CALLED VIBRANT MEDIA THAT HAS INVADED MY BROWSER WITHOUT EVEN ASKING ME IF I AGREED TO HAVE IT ON MY PC WAS PUT THERE BY OUR VERY OWN BleepingComputer .com?????????

IF the answer is YES, then I am afraid that I will have to say that I TOTALLY DISAPPROVE of BC PULLING SUCH AN UNDERHANDED AND UNETHICAL SCAM ON INNOCENT PEOPLE THAT COME TO THIS SITE FOR THE PURPOSE OF FIGHTING AGAINST SUCH TRICKERY AND SLICK COMPUTER INVADING TRICKS AS IS VIBRANT MEDIA. I AM SURE IT DOESN'T DO ANY HARM TO OUR PCs.........BUT.....COME ON NOW!!!! GETTING KNOWLEDGE OF THINGS LIKE ADWARE AND HELPING EACH OTHER GET RID OF THEM IS SUPPOSED TO BE WHAT WE ARE ALL ABOUT.......ISN'T IT!!!?????????

trumpetman51

p.s. MAN....I will be TOTALLY DISAPPOINTED IF I FIND OUT THAT THIS SNEAKY ADWARE EXISTS ON MY MACHINE BECAUSE OF BC.COM!!!!!!!

PLEASE, be truthful about this as I will have to SERIOUSLY CONSIDER NOT USING THIS SITE ANY LONGER IF THIS IS TRUE!!!!

THANK YOU!!

That would be a clear cut case of irony. No, I'm pretty sure it does not get installed in your browser; it simply injects itself into the page to make certain keywords on the page into hyperlinks. It is a non-intrusive advertising strategy. This is much better than having ads take up screen real-estate or having to deal with popups/popunders.
However, wormdunker69 says that it happens on every screen - does that include every screen outside of BC?

Trumpetman51,

I'd like to know what link you clicked on to get this adware.

The link in post #6 above shows a 404 error - information not available. So you weren't hit from it.

The Bleeping Computer forums do not support any advertising that should cause you any problems otherwise.

As a member, registered and logged in, you should not be seeing any advertising within the forums.

You do realize that this is a TWO YEAR OLD thread?

Not to blow off the need for advertising to sustain the site...

but Ad-Block for FireFox blocks all of it.

HEy there.....

NOPE, I did NOT realize that this is a 2 year old thread....THAT makes me feela WHOLE LOT BETTER!!! I actually NEVER saw it on my computer until just recently...like within the past couple of days or so. IN FACT, I FIRST saw it on my niece's computer when i was at her house cleaning her machine of a TON of JUNK!!! AND, I get a more than a few emails from my sister, her mother, SO....I wonder if it could have made it's way here VIA AN EMAIL OR 2!!!! ALSO, I DON'T SEE IT ALL THE TIME....IT SEEMS TO KIND OF SHOW UP NOW AND THEN..................THIS IS GREAT!!! AS IF MY PC WASN'T KEEPING ME BUSY ENOUGH ALREADY!!!!!!! GOD I WISH I HAD A MAC!!!!! BUT, I DON'T......HOWEVER, I AM GETTING VERY CLOSE TO backing up ONLY my MOST IMPORTANT DATA and DOING A "FLUSH and FILL" HERE!!! You know......FORMATTING AND DOING A CLEAN INSTAll.........after all........it has been AT LEAST 6 months since I have done it!!!! ONLY THING IS.......THIS TIME, I JUST MIGHT GO WITH LINUX UBUNTU!!!! I don't know if it's ME or WHAT...but it seems like WINDOWS is becoming a LITTLE TOO MUCH LIKE A FULL-TIME JOB!!!!!

HAPPY HUNTIN'!!!

PEACE!!!

trumpetman
