I have done all the steps outlined in http://www.derkeiler.com/Newsgroups/micros...04-08/1624.html. I had to download the latest version, or so I think, of hijackthis. Please take a look at my log as I have been going at this since Sunday. I live out in the stick and have to rely on dial up to download files. I want to poke my eyes out with a hot poker!!!!

Thanks for you help smart computer people. I am just a lowly user.

  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
  • The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart.(See Extra Note)
  • The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
  • Copy&Paste the entire report in your next reply along with a fresh HijackThis log.

Another Q, whatever virus I have has diabled my task manager. Once you figure out the problem, will this fix correct that too or will I need to do something else? Remember....you are very smart....I am just a lowly user. LOL!

Thanks.

Hi,

almost done.. still some leftovers present here..

* Open notepad - don't use any other texteditor than notepad or the script will fail.
Copy/paste the text in the quotebox below into notepad:

File::
C:\WINDOWS\wintst32.tmp
C:\WINDOWS\system32\rrppkggc.ini
C:\WINDOWS\system32\yfnafnfn.ini
C:\WINDOWS\system32\akxjwkyg.ini
C:\WINDOWS\BMaf869ec0.xml
C:\WINDOWS\mainms.vpi
C:\WINDOWS\muotr.so
C:\WINDOWS\megavid.cdt
C:\WINDOWS\system32\LA10B.tmp
C:\WINDOWS\system32\L9543.tmp
C:\WINDOWS\system32\L9265.tmp
C:\WINDOWS\system32\L8C5A.tmp

Save this as txtfile CFScript

Then drag the CFScript into ComboFix.exe as you see in the screenshot below.

This will start ComboFix again. After reboot, (in case it asks to reboot), post the contents of Combofix.txt in your next reply together with a new HijackThislog.
