Recently got a computer virus. Virus is gone by seems to have messed with my system files. The screen doesn't look the same. When I go to the display properties to change the appearance settings the Windows XP Style is missing.

I am told my only option is to reload Windows XP Professional and all of my software. I'd rather not do that. Anyone have any ideas?

Two of our technicians here cleaned the computer. Don't know what it was. So far the computer is acting normal. It was opening a browser window for no reason and displaying various sites (i.e. Rebate Checks, Sign up For Visa, TV directory) and just overall garbage. I believe I was also infected with the VirusProtector that I saw earlier on this site because I was having Windows system message displaying saying I was infected and then directing me to a bogus web site for virus removal.

Don't know if this helps or not.
