Missing File

Hello. My Xp will not start up. message comes up saying.Missing file. windows\system32\config \system. I am running a dual system Xp and Vista. I would like to know how I can replace the missing file. I tried going into my second computer and copy and paste or send to but no luck . I tried F8 no luck. I hope you can assist me with this problem. many Thanks. Terry.
