I have a friend with a Dell Lap top, and found ;

MSSQL$MICROSOFTSML , in the Start up list, . . .

The following is a references with what looks like legitimate file, etc. located on this computer;

[C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL$MICROSOFTSMLBIZ\Binn\sqlservr.exe (31)]
C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL$MICROSOFTSMLBIZ\Binn\opends60.dll
C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL$MICROSOFTSMLBIZ\Binn\Resources\1033\sqlevn70.RLL
C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL$MICROSOFTSMLBIZ\Binn\sqlsort.dll
C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL$MICROSOFTSMLBIZ\Binn\SSmsLPCn.dll
C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL$MICROSOFTSMLBIZ\binn\SSNETLIB.dll
C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL$MICROSOFTSMLBIZ\Binn\ums.dll

However, . . this >MSSQL$MICROSOFTSML< is not the same and its manufacturer is unknown where as the others, are manf. by MS.

There is very little in a google search :

http://www.google.com/search?q=MSSQL%24MIC...lient=firefox-a

and it did not show up in virus data base startup lists malware or process searches.

Does any one have any info. that may solve this unknown ?

Thanks Chewy,

Its not a corporate anything, I don't have any idea, how these files got there, but, I am sure they do not belong there, in any case your info. will be helpful, Thanks much.

I have found out your question is warranted, . . it was presumably new, however it is a second user,
in case you get to read this, . . I am trying to find out if this is a program that might conflict with modem functions such as installing printer, or interrupting connection services ?

I have always tried to clean up any corporate leftovers, if that's what it is?

Is the OS pro or home?

It's a home, I believe that one of the pages you referred to has instruction on how to clean this up.
