After all the critical patches and hotfixes since sp2, my windows folder is starting to turn into a big mess

I ran the sp3rc2 upgrade from normal mode and all went well and now I have that backup in the windows folder also?

Is there a guide somewhere for a manual cleaning?

I have no answer, Chewy...but I found a webpage that you might be interested in reviewing, http://home.comcast.net/~SupportCD/XPMyths.html

I don't really find anything dedicated to trimming the Windows folder per se.

I found one freeware program that would let me remove the 79 old backups one at a time

dougknox's older program only got 4

I am doing a little experimenting here, I will slipstream the sp3 into my cab files and do a repair install

Sooner or later after testing that I will do a clean install

Louis that's one of the best all-in-one sites I have ever seen
