Hi I know this is probably off topic but I,m trying to get the biggest response I can. I am a 40 yr. old male who is about to be laid off from a manufacturing job. My plant is closing. Part of our severance is 2 yrs. of paid schooling along with 2 yrs. of unemployment. I would like to study in the computer, i.t. field. My question is which way to go. I have been told that a 2 yr. associate degree is worthless, and that I would be better off to be Microsoft certified. I really do not know what all the qualifications for that program are. I do not live in a big city area, so I would be looking to get into schools, hospital, or manufacturing plant to use my degree. I could commute to the city , but its about 85 miles away, so I would if I had to but would rather not.
So, which way would someone in the computer field advise someone in my situation? I have never been to college before, but believe I would do fairly well.
Thanks for the advice
