Hi,

Anyone know what it means when a PC only repeatably beeps on start up and doesn't even send a signal to the monitor?

I have a Tennant that has this problem and she isn't one to know what to do in this situation, heck I don't know what it is?

I've switch her monitor with mine and it still won't work. I've removed the BIOS battery and still no change, beep beep beep continually is all it does.

So, does anyone know what that means and how to fix it. Thanks.

John

PS Would no mouse attached do this? Her mouse pins are to bent to fit in the back of the PC. I can't imagine that this would be the problem. Is it?

Usually these beep codes indicate bad graphics hardware or bad ram.

Is there any combination of long and short beeps, or are they only the same duration? Is there any change in pitch from beep to beep?

It seems to be a constant same pitch beep, no variation what so ever.

If I have to guess, I'd have to say that I think it is probably the RAM but I'm not sure, so I'm all ears ;)

This is most likely a hardware error that's preventing the computer from booting. As the mouse pins are bent, I wonder if any are shorting out to another pin or to the side of the socket - this could cause that problem. Can you try another mouse to see if it works then?

BTW - also check the keyboard pins to see if they may be bent also.
