So I screwed up and got some malware and a virus or 2. This caused some slowdowns and pop-ups telling me that I had a problem with malware and where to go to fix it. I ignored that crap and installed Kaspersky's Anti-virus 7.0. that got rid of a few things, but created a whole new issue of having explorer.exe running at 99% 24/7. I contacted Kaspersky's customer service, thay told me to update my broadcom driver (not being used as this box is wireless) and that I wasn't using the latest version of their product. I couldn't down load anything due to the high cpu usage, so I uninstalled KAspersky and installed earthlink protection control center, which when the scan finally finished 3 hours later, had found another virus and some adware that Kaspersky had missed. This junk was removed, but still the issue continues. I ran SFC, but it didn't come up with anything. My cache is empty-ish, disk defraged ~ month or 2. Below is my hijackthis file. Any help is appreciated.

Also, please give me feedback on my post skillz, as I am new to this forum. I read as much as I could about how to present the info. Scouts honor!

Hello! Thanks for getting back to me! There shouldn't be any changes to the hijack this log, as the computer has been off since I posted the first one. When I wrote the issues still continue, I was spaking to the stuff that I had tried, but had failed at fixing on my own. Let me know what else you need.

A new HijackThis log is needed since the latest you posted was on 4/14/2008.

Remove two of your Anti Virus programs.
You are operating your computer with multiple Anti Virus programs running in memory at once:

Authentium AntiVirus & Firewall
Symantec
EarthLink Protection Control Center


Anti-virus programs take up an enormous amount of your computer's resources when they are actively scanning your computer. Having two or more anti-virus programs running at the same time can cause your computer to run very slow, become unstable and even, in rare cases, crash.

Please remove two of them.

As Symantec can be a remainant, because i can see only the update service.
You can uninstall it using this link.

Please click HERE and follow the instructions to download and run the norton removal tool for your own version.

It is strongly recommended that you run only one antivirus program at a time. Having more than one antivirus program active in memory uses additional resources and can result in program conflicts and false virus alerts.

I removed the earthlink. I couldn't figure out how to remove the others, as there was nothing in the add/remove control panel.

I ran the norton removal tool, after restarting 3 times to get the computer to recognize my thumb drive. Here is the latest hijackthis file.

Yes. That particular file must be infected. It's unknown so i would like to upload it and see what type of infection is.

Is there a particular reason you can't connect with the Internet with this pc?

Is this a different pc you are posting now? I need to analyse that file, and i will probably need you to download tools to remove the infection you have.

After uninstalling earthlink i see you have no Anti-Virus now.

I am using my laptop to post. I am going to reinstall earthlink. I will try and get the desk box connected, and run that file.

Please ensure you read this guide carefully and install the Recovery Console first.

The Windows Recovery Console will allow you to boot up into a special recovery (repair) mode. This allows us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware. It is a simple procedure that will only take a few moments of your time.

Once installed, you should see a blue screen prompt that says:

The Recovery Console was successfully installed.

Please continue as follows:
  • Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.
  • Click Yes to allow ComboFix to continue scanning for malware.
  • When the tool is finished, it will produce a report for you.
