So I bought a new laptop with OS Vista (which I have no experience with). I somehow got virus/malware infections when trying to connect to the internet at my college through their campus network. My laptop has been at my college's IT department for the last week and they say now that I am "relatively virus free", that they have gotten rid of "most of my viruses." Anyway, I am worried they didn't get all the viruses/malware so I wanted to post my HijackThis log to make sure. The other problem I am having is that Internet Explorer 7 will not open. I have tried the trick about opening IE w/ the "no add-ons" but it still will not open and since my OS is VISTA (ugh!), I can't uninstall IE7 or repair it. I feel like this is part of the virus stuff going on still...So since I can't get IE to open, I couldn't run the Kapersky online scanner (it wasn't working with Firefox), so all I have is the HijackThis log.

I don't know whether to do a system restore (I'm afraid I'll roll the comp. back to when it had the original virus infections...) or try to somehow re-install the OS or something? SOO frustrated as I just purchased the laptop, BRAND NEW about 1-2 wks ago. Any help would be greatly appreciated!! THANKS!

Hi! Thanks for the response and I totally understand about the delay - it definitely seems like a lot of people post their logs here. Anyway, because I didn't get an answer for so long, I went ahead and reinstalled the OS on my laptop and that has seemed to solved the problems. Because it was so new I hadn't installed anything on it yet, so it was no big deal to just reinstall the OS and wipe everything. Anyway, things seem to be running fine now so all is well. Thanks anyway though!
