My CD drive isnt able to read or write cds anymore just DVDs and CD roms. I tried system restore just to make sure i didnt accidentally click on anything that would have caused this. Also, when i try to use Itunes a message pops out that reads:
The registry used by the itunes drivers for importing and burning CDs and DVDs are missing. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Try going to the Device Manager, uninstall the drive, then reboot, and see if Windows will pick it up.
Right-click My Computer / Hardware tab / Device Manager button
Locate the drive, right-click it, and select Uninstall.
Reboot, and see if it works.

Have you tried updating the drivers?
