Is this a clean install you are attempting?

Are there other partitions on the hard drive?

Are you using a genuine MS XP CD...or a recovery CD/partition?

Any error messages?

Why are you reinstalling XP? What problems prompted your decision?

Have you checked the hard drive with a diagnostic from the hard drive manufacturer's website?
