I used the Dell CD that came with a Dell Inspiron 1300 Laptop to reinstall Windows since it was not loading. I did not tell it to format my drive. My programs are all in the programs file but not in the start menu. I used a different username then I had before - so I can find all my files in the documents and settings file under the old username. Can I change the current username to the old one too restore that information - or what is the best solution. I am more worried about keeping my Outlook information. I tried opening Outlook but it tells me that it cannot open because it was not the right user.

You may be able to access the files (if you can see them) by taking ownership of them, How to take ownership of a file or folder in Windows XP - http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=308421
