Hi,

When I am trying to install AVG Free Edition 7.5 Build 503(11/19/2007), it gives an error message as follows.

Local machine: installation failed
Installation:
Error: Action failed for file avg7rsw.sys: starting service....
The system cannot find the file specified. (2)

the specified is available in one of the windows sub folders.

I've tried many times to resolve this, but no way. please help me.

I am using Windows XP Service Pack 2. The downloaded installation file is working fine with other systems.

How can I rectify this?

Rgs,

Sreeram

Hi,

AVG 8.0 is a paid version. Trial version is valid only 30 days. Can anyone tell me how can resolve the problem with Avg 7.5 free version.

may I suggest that, as you have an active HJT log on this forum http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/ind...mp;#entry726095

you ask this question on that thread for your helper to maybe even review a new log for you ????

else matters could get confusing

that log was for W2ksp4?

if this is the same computer and xp pro was applied as an upgrade then it would be very pertinent

since home could not be an upgrade and would require a clean install then that thread would be irrelevant

very confuzing

No. Try not. Do... or do not. There is no try.

Sreeram,

I see you have an open HJT log posted in the HijackThis Logs and Malware Removal forum.
You shouldn't make any changes to your system, while your HJT log is posted, as that could change the results of the posted log, making it difficult to properly clean your system.

At this point, the HJT Team should be the only members that you take advice from, until they have verified your log as clean.

I'm closing this topic until you are cleared by the HJT Team.
If, after your log has been cleaned, you still need help, please PM a Moderator and we will re-open this topic.

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to send me a PM.
