Thanks a ton bleepincomputers.... :flowers:

The combofix has done wonders in fixing my internet explorer 8 and yahoo messenger 9 beta. The explorer was crashing every now and then...with the following error message.

AppName: iexplore.exe AppVer: 8.0.6001.17184 ModName: comctl32.dll
ModVer: 6.0.2900.2982 Offset: 00082472

The yahoo messenger since it was installed and uninstalled several tyms continued to vanish as soon as the sign in button was clicked. The steps suggested in the execution of the combofix has helped me recover from the same. However i am concerned if it can recur any tym and if so wud i be required to repeat the recovery procedure every tym. Also i wud want to know wat exactly could have created this problem.

I am also requested in the guide to submit the log which i have already.

Hello jimcarey, Welcome to Bleeping Computer.

Combofix is an extremely powerful tool which should only be used when instructed to do so by someone who has been properly trained. It's is intended by its creator to be "used under the guidance and supervision of an expert", NOT for private use. Please read Combofix's Disclaimer. Using this tool incorrectly could lead to disastrous problems with your operating system such as preventing it from ever starting again.

Please create a new topic explaining the nature of your problem. Describe pop-ups and system tray or desktop icons that have appeared. Explain what is "going wrong" with your computer. Note any tools you have used and their respective results.

If needed, we will direct you to our HJT Preparation Guide.

Also take a moment and visit the New User Orientation section, to get familiarized with how the board works.
Chaos reigns within.
Reflect, repent, and reboot.
Order shall return.
