Hi All:

I'm a newbie here although I've been visiting Bleeping off and on for a couple months now in order to help out a friend of mine. However, I decided when it came to my computer, to get the help of a pro. <g>

It won't look like I'm online but I will be monitoring the formum to see when one of you want me to start working my way throught this mess. LOL

Problem A : My screen is twitchie meaning it is flashing off and on or blinking. I'll be working away and all of a sudden the screen will start to blink, then it will go dark and I will have to wiggle the mouse and depress the space bar to make the screen come back on. It almost seems like it is getting worse and this maybe since I updated the driver.

Problem B: I had Incredimail last year and had integrated it with my Outlook Express. Recently I found out that when I uninstalled Incredimail, a large portion of the files didn't uninstall and when I attempt to manually delete them...I receive some interested messages. I've uninstalled my Outlook Express, re-installed Incredimail. Made sure all my email in the folders through incredimail was delete, uninstalled it again, deleted all the items manually, went into the registy deleted everything I could find...but I'm still missing something so I can't reinstall my Outlook Express yet. Help! I want to integrate my hotmail with my Outllook again and I can't until this is cleared up.

Problem C: I have the most current versions of Spybot and AdAware, as well as Norton's 2005 Security withVirus Protection. I've had Norton for several years, but somehow over the past year I managed to download some spyware, malware and etc. Norton didn't catch it, but Spybot and AdAware did and deleted the items or so I thought. When I renewed my Norton yesterday and ran the update program (my subscription hadn't run out yet), it found the items and they had apparently been on the computer for almost a year and some for as recent as December. In the registry...there's all kinds of gobblie gook and I don't know my way around it so I need help because I know that some of the programs are leaving things behind just like Incredimail, MySearch, SearchWay, etc.

Problem D: When shutting down my computer...quite often the shutdown process is starting to get hung up on items that don't want to shut down and so I have to force them to shut down and then I receive the little warning that I would loose all my unsaved information.

Problem E: I would really like some help cleaning up my registry which is a complete mess, and my startup process because I have too many processes running at once and it eats up too much of my computer memory. LOL

Problem F: In looking over my lists I discovered that I'm missing a lot of files and I don't know if this is because the spyware, malware and such removed them or what not, but I could use some help figuring out what to do about all those empty items. <g>

Problem G: Last but not least, my computer came with Windows XP Home Edition pre-installed on it and the retail company didn't provide me with the disks. Does anyone know where I can get a copy of the Windows XP Home Edition Backup Tool since I can't extract it from my computer and it's necessary to have the disks? I really want to be able to back up some clean registries and such, including all the programs, etc that I've installed incase...heaven forbid, my computer ever crashes. LOL

Here's my HJL:

Do you know what this is?

There is not much wrong with this log. Fix these entries:

To your problems:

A. Disable all power saving options and see if that fixes it.

B. There is a tutorial on forcing IE and OE to reinstall in the tutorial section. Search for internet explorer

C. Spybot/ad-aware as long as they are updated should find these leftover registry keys and remove them.

D. Are these programs that have documents that you need to save?

E. Compare your startup programs to the listings in the startup database. Thats the best way.

F. What missing files?

G. You will prob need the cd for that.
