I'm running:

System:
Microsoft Windows XP
Home Edition
Version 2002
Service Pack2

Acer inc.
AcerSystem
Intel® Pentium® M
Processor 1.60GHz
1.60GHz, 504 MB of RAM
Physical Address Extension

As you might realise I've just copied that from My Computer's properties.

My first problem is that under 'Device Manager' there is problems with Other devices. I don't know if these devices are working or not but they look like they're having problems. The items not working at the Mass Storage Controller, Video Controllers and the Video controller (VGA Compatible). You can see the problem in the screenshot below.

I'd also like to know how to get rid of the bar at the bottom of the documents, can't seem to find it to take it off.

Hope you can help me to resolve these problems!

Thanks.

Have you tried reinstalling the drivers?

If not you can do so by double clicking on the item(s) in question -> click 'unistall' -> reboot and wait for them to reinstall.

PS: What does device manager report the problem to be?

Looks like you need to install drivers for those devices with the yellow markings.

Do you have any CDs which were provided you with the system that you have? If so, is one of them marked in any way as a drivers CD?

What is the model of your Acer system?

Reference: Update Those Drivers - http://www.cyberwalker.net/columns/aug00/310800.html

The procedure for installing or updating drivers is basically the same.

Some CDs containing drivers only require that you insert them in the CD/DVD drive...and then autorun takes care of installing whatever drivers it detects as needed.

If you don't have a CD containing drivers, they should be downloadable at the Acer website...which is why I asked what model your system is.

Drivers for Acer Aspire 1690 laptop: http://www.acerpanam.com/flex/acerdrivers/...FTOKEN=63580954

Download/install appropriate drivers which you know to be missing. If others need installing, you have the link.

Thanks guys!

I downloaded the VGA Video driver and that fixed 2 problems on the event manager. Which do I download for the Mass Storage Controller?

The Mass Storage Controller is most likely the driver for the SD Card Reader (but I can't get the Acer site to load for me).

For the Status Bar at the bottom of the Window, click on the View menu and uncheck "Status Bar".
My browser caused a flood of traffic, sio my IP address was banned. Hope to fix it soon. Will get back to posting as soon as Im able.
