I was just wondering if anyone can throw light on this odd problem a friend is having. (They no longer have internet connection so they can't ask for themselves).
They have Works Suite 2001 installed which includes MS Word 2000 SR-1. They also have Office 97 installed. Everything has been running fine for months, no major changes made to the system. But now if you try to load Word the system chokes - mouse pointer moves but nothing responds. Ctl-Alt-Del either has no response or sometimes "system dangerously low on resources" message. Attempting to end tasks has no effect.
The system is an AMD K-6 of some sort on a mobo with VIA chipset and 128MB RAM. SANDRA says the RAM is performing OK. Hard drive is 10Gig with about 5Gig free, recently scanned and defragged.
I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling Office 97, and Word 2000 in various combinations to no effect. Word97 runs OK but put 2000 in there and you're gone. All the other Office 97 apps run fine, as do all other aps on the system.

Any suggestions? :flowers:

Oops, you said "rename", I just told them to delete it.

Either way Bullseye! it worked fine after the 315KB normal.dot and the 1KB ~$normal.dot were deleted and Word 2000 installed once again.

Thank's very much Grinler, nice work!
