HELP ME!!

I have the Synaptics touch pad on the HP dv6000. I have recently had to take it in to have it reset as I had an error showing up and although that's fixed I have another problem....I think??
The Synaptics scrolling (the bar on the right of the pad) Doesnt seem to work on Internet pages or my email for example. . it only works on certain documents. . or at least I think.
The reason Im here is because I cannot remember if it worked before on web pages etc and wondered if there is someone with a simler computer who could confirm if this is or isnt something which my touch pad should be doing.
I though it should but then maybe im imagining things.

Does your work on web pages?
Have you had simler problems?
How did you resolve them?

Am I loosing my marbles?
Have I already lost them?

Im using Windows Vista
32 bit operating system

NB Im a female with little knowledge of computers so simple instructions are more than appreciated!

I don't have a laptop in front of me to confirm things. The first thing I would to is to locate the touchpad in the Control Panel and double-check the settings. If there's no love there, open Device Manager and click on the +'s. See if there are any yellow exclamation points by the device. Lastly, when you said you had the computer reset, I assume you mean you had the OS reinstalled. You might need to download the driver.
Whether you reload the OS with the recovery partition or a restore disk, it restores it to factory settings. I'm hoping it's just a setting

why won't my laptop work?

Having grandkids is God's way of giving you a 2nd chance because you were too busy working your butt off the 1st time around
