Hi,
I have a file called autoexec.nt lying around in My Documents (windows XP home edition SP2), and it's a text file. It says:
@echo off
lh %SYSTEMROOT%\system32\mscdexnt.exe
lh %SYSTEMROOT%\system32\redir
lh %SYSTEMROOT%\system32\dosx
SET BLASTER=A220 I5 D1 P330 T3

And there's a config.nt.txt there as well:
dos=high, umb
device=%SYSTEMROOT%\system32\himem.sys
files=40

I googled mscdexnt.exe and half of the pages say it's a virus, and the other half say it's a microsoft program. I submitted it to virustotal and the jotti one, and they both came out clear, but I'm still wondering about it, since it's not signed (and, well, why would those two txts be in My Docs anyway?). Any help?
Thanks in advance

It looks like it's a remnant of something that's used to launch a game in DOS mode.

You can upload a copy of the mscdexnt.exe file at this link to see if it's infected: http://virusscan.jotti.org

nah, it didn't detect anything. I've only got one game right now on my computer, called "Dig Dug Deeper", all the others were uninstalled (I don't know if DDD is a DOS game or not). Should I delete that mscdexnt, or just leave it there? And I'll delete the txt files then, right? =P

When in doubt, delete to the Recycle Bin. That way it'll hang around for a while in case you find that you need it.
