My problem is with System Integrity Scan Wizard, which pops up in IE every 10 minutes or so. I notice a post by MYJOCK seeking help with the same infection and wondered if the advice given in that reply would be applicable to my situation or will I have to start from scratch and produce my own Hijackthis log for posting? Or, can I start by downloading "Combofix" and post the log that it produces ?

Hello and welcome to BC wmclean :flowers:

First to address a couple of your questions:

I notice a post by MYJOCK seeking help with the same infection and wondered if the advice given in that reply would be applicable to my situation

Each person's computer is different with different programs, set-ups etc. This means that you SHOULD NOT follow the disinfection directions for someone else - especially in the HiJack This forum. The disinfection procedures in that forum were written with that specific computer in mind. Those same directions could seriously damage a different computer.

Or, can I start by downloading "Combofix" and post the log that it produces

Please note the text in blue at the top of this forum. To emphasize what it says:

ComboFix logs are not to be posted outside the HijackThis forums. It is an extremely powerful tool which should only be used when instructed to do so by someone who has been properly trained. ComboFix is intended by its creator to be "used under the guidance and supervision of an expert", NOT for private use. Please read Combofix's Disclaimer. Using this tool incorrectly could lead to disastrous problems with your operating system such as preventing it from ever starting again.

In order to provide you with the proper disinfection directions, we need more information from you.

What is your operating system: Windows XP, Vista, etc.?

What security programs do you have installed? Please name them.

Are you experiencing any issues other than the pop-ups you described?

Please do not post either of those logs in this forum. You should not even use Combofix til instructed.

Create an post the HiJackthis log first and wait to see if the HJT Tech requests it.

Thank you Orange Blossom and boopme. I appreciate your comments. Sorry if I came in the wrong way with my problem. Unfamiliar territory to a new user. I'm going through the processes laid out in your tutorial and hope to post a Hijackthis log, together with my OS and other relevant details, later today - in the proper forum this time.

That all good, if you have any problem posting the log ask in this thread.

Hello wmclean,

Now that you have your log posted here: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/139213/system-integrity-scan-wizard/ DO NOT make any further changes to your computer: deleting files, editing the registry, using special fix tools, installing or uninstalling software etc. as this will make it more difficult for the HJT team to help you.

Please be patient as the HJT team is EXTREMELY busy. DO NOT bump your log as the team may think that someone is already helping you. If you have not had a response in ten days, add a response to the five days no response topic and paste in the link to your thread.

To avoid confusion I am closing this topic. Good luck with your log.
