how much video ram is required to produce 800x600x64k colors

I hope this is not your homework...

64k color depth utilises 16bits (2 bytes) per pixel (color triad). So the frame buffer will contain 800 x 600 x 2 bytes = 960000 bytes. 1M of video memory will be required.
