hi everyone
my problem go's like this
a while back I got a trogan and I believe I got rid of it but I still have problems like slow speed and system restore not working.
I've had my cpu tell me there are still people logged on my cpu when I'm turning it off, windows pop up telling me my trial version is over for a program I've never even heard of.

Normally when I run into problems like these I restore back to factory settings and reinstall everything again, It takes all day but I have a clean cpu.

When I do a sys restore now, It go's threw the motions of restoring, preparing hard drive, copying files, and such, but when it's done and asks to restart,it do'snt go to windows setup screen, it go's right to my desktop like a normal start and everything is still the same.

My cpu
HP pavillion952x
AMD athalonxp 1800+
1.53GHz, 2.00GB of ram
windows xp home edition service pack 2

Norton anti virus shows nothing when I scan
Spybot Search+Destroy shows Microsoft Windows security centre disabled
but the program freezes at the very end so I can't do anything

I've been reading a lot on this forum tutorials (very impressed bye the way) I installed autorun and started to go threw my startup and fownd a lot of files that read, (should be removed) so I got about half
way thru and decided to restart before I got to crazy, when it came back it was a mess, I lost my start button and the bar on the desktop, I lost my internet conection So I guess I turned off something I should not of
So I turned it all Back on and started wrighting this letter

I don't know where to go from here
any and all help would be appreciated
Russell

may I suggest you run , if it will let you(?) a few FREE basic scans to see if they rake up anything to point to the culprit?
super antispyware
http://www.superantispyware.com/superantis...efreevspro.html

its exe is http://www.superantispyware.com/downloadfi...ANTISPYWAREFREE

and asquared

http://www.emsisoft.com/en/software/free/

its free exe is
http://download6.emsisoft.com/a2FreeSetup.exe

you will need to fully update the definitions, reboot ( preferably into safe mode) and run full deep scans with each

each will produce a report which you will need to copy and past to this thread for the experts on here to see to help you with more tools

depending on how much is on your computer these scans CAN take a wee while, ( maybe hours) so be prepared

IF it will let you you could also try an on lien scan from trend http://housecall.trendmicro.com/uk/

as this may well be your first time with this scanner it may take some minutes to transfer the data from the server to your computer

to hopefully state the obvious for THIS scan you will need to be ON line and doing NOWT BUT letting the scan run

it too will give you a screen report when it is complete and this report would too be helpful

please do these scans and let us know the outcome?

it would really help if you could just copy and paste the reports into the thread and NOT put them as attachements

run all the programs and let us know how you get on?
