My pc has been hijacked by thesearchmall.com I've run AdAware and S&D but neither has removed it. I have a 5yr old and 6yr old who I can't let on the computer due to all the porn pop ups. Have tried removing this myself to no avail, I have HJT fix the things I've checked, and go thru and remove all the CRAP it's so kindly deposited on my computer....but it just keeps coming back upon reboot or returns a few days later and dumps all the programs back on my desktop. Please help me with what to remove.

Reboot your computer into Safe Mode and delete the following files:

Then delete these files or directories (Do not be concerned if they do not exist)
C:\WINDOWS\System32\winsrm32.dll

Disable System Restore. You can find instructions on how to enable and reenable system restore here:

Managing Windows Millenium System Restore
or

Windows XP System Restore Guide

Renable system restore with instructions from tutorial above

Reboot your computer to go back to normal mode and post a new log.

Excellent job!!! Logs looks really clean.

Now that you are clean, please follow this simple step and use the following programs:

Visit http://www.windowsupdate.com regularly. This will ensure that you have the latest patches for your operating system installed. If there are new updates to install, install all the critical updates, reboot and revisit the site until there are no more critical updates.

I would strongly advise you download and install SpywareBlaster and Spybot (With TeaTimer)

Tutorials and download locations for each programs can be found below. They will help to prevent a lot of future reinfections.

So far so good ... nothing has returned and my system's still clean and running well. :thumbsup:

I have my system set to update windows automatically. I also keep AdAware and Spybot S&D updated and run them once a week. I have downloaded SpywareBlaster now and have set that up.

Thanks so much for your help. It's nice to be able to be online and/or actually do something on my pc without all the lagg and lovely :flowers: pop ups, not to mention frustration at my inability to fix the problem. My kids are excited that they'll be able to start playing their games again soon too. Your help is truly appreciated.
