:thumbsup: caramba! i think i have done it this time!!!! when I try to install a programe ie avg for example I get ,'status ' the feature you are trying to use is on a cd-rom,or other removable disk! ? is this my windows instalation disk???

the path1 cannot be found verify that you have access to this location and try again,or try to find the installation package'status msi'in a folder from which you can install the product! ???

I have tried to start from scratch but when I try f8 I get no response!

I'm going to take an educated guess and say that the Windows Installer is corrupt.

Do you have any programs that you run off the CD, instead of fully installed?

first part i am not sure of question! second I think that you educated guess is correct, If I purchase a key from microsoft would it install, windows installer??

Try this free program: http://wiki.djlizard.net/Dial-a-fix#Standard_version
In particular, check the boxes for the Windows Installer and Flush the Software Distribution folder.
My browser caused a flood of traffic, sio my IP address was banned. Hope to fix it soon. Will get back to posting as soon as Im able.
