Hello all,

I would like to request some help about removal of a malware. I'm sure you'll have some usefull advice.

I'm using IE. My home page always switches to about:blank with a kind of "search page" displaying:

I tried pretty much all the useful softwares available (such as Ad-Aware, HijackThisand even Microsoft Antispyware) with latest versions and last updates. Everytime they claim everything is clean but in fact not...
I read a lot of posts in several forums but found nothing that really could help me.

Here is my last HijackThis log:

I need to get samples of some of your files. Please create a folder called c:\submit. Now copy the following files into that directory:

c:\windows\system32\autoclk.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\mscdex32.exe

To copy the files simply navigate to the directory they are in and right click on them and then click on copy. Then paste these files into the c:\submit directory. Once the files are all copied I need you to zip the folder and rename submit.zip to yourmembername.zip (for example grinler.zip). If you are using XP or ME right-click on the folder and click on the Send To option and then send it to a compressed folder. You will now see a file called submit.zip. If you are using another version of Windows, please download a program called Winzip and zip it using that. Then go to http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/submit-malware.php fill in the required fields, and browse to the file. Then click on the Send File button.

Print out these instructions and then close all windows including Internet Explorer.

Then I want you to fix some of those entries. Please do the following:

Please make sure that you can view all hidden files. Instructions on how to do this can be found here:

How to see hidden files in Windows

Run Hijackthis again, click scan, and Put a checkmark next to each of these. Then click the Fix button:

Reboot your computer into Safe Mode

Then delete these files or directories (Do not be concerned if they do not exist)

C:\WINDOWS\system32\usbn.exe
c:\ied_s7.cab
c:\wx.cab
c:\wx.cab
C:\WINDOWS\System32\vbsys2.dll

Reboot your computer to go back to normal mode and

Enter your control panel. If you are using Windows XP's Category View, select the Network and Internet Connections category otherwise double click on Network Connections. Then right click on your default connection, usually local area connection for cable and dsl, and left click on properties. Double-click on the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) item and select the radio dial that says Obtain DNS servers automatically

Press OK twice to get out of the properties screen and reboot if it asks.

Then post a new log

Ok. Did everything.

1\ I could not find the files you mentionned (I was able to see all the hidden files). But I found files with similar names:
- autockk.exe
- mscdexnt.exe

So I put these files in the zip. Maybe it can halp anyway. If you need other files, please feel free to ask for them.

2\ Then I tried to delete the files you told me. As you said some of them didn't exist. The only one I found end deleted is:

C:\WINDOWS\System32\vbsys2.dll

3\ Here is the new log:

Do me a favor and do the following:

Download rkfiles.zip
UNZIP the contents to a permanent folder

Reboot in SAFE MODE !! Important !!
°To get into the Safe mode as the computer is booting press and hold your "F8 Key". Use your arrow keys to move to "Safe Mode" and press your Enter key

Please set your system to show all files.
Click Start.
Open My Computer.
Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
Select the View Tab. Under the Hidden files and folders heading, select Show hidden files and folders.
Uncheck: Hide file extensions for known file types
Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
Click Yes to confirm.
Click OK.

Doubleclick rkfiles.bat
It will scan for a while.
Wait till the doswindow closes and reboot back to normal mode.

Post the contents of C:\log.txt in your next reply.

Reboot your computer into Safe Mode

I need to get samples of some of your files. Please create a folder called c:\submit. Now move the following files into that: directory by right clicking on each, selecting cut, and then right clicking in the c:\submit folder and selecting paste:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\audissrp.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\chkntfsfat.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\diantzpt.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\MACDec.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\MonkeySource.ax
C:\WINDOWS\system32\dosxpd.exe
C:\WINDOWS\tsc.exe
C:\WINDOWS\vsapi32.dll

To move the following files into that directory right-click on each, select cut, and then right clicking in the c:\submit folder and select paste.

Then download the following file:

http://forums.skads.org/index.php?act=Atta...ype=post&id=114

>> Download the attachment and unzip the contents to a permanent folder

>> Reboot into safe mode and unhide all files and folders

>> Doubleclick on remv3.bat to run it. Wait untill the dos window closes.

>> Post the contents of c:\log.txt for the helper after rebboting into normal mode along with a new hjt log

You can move these files back to their original locations from the c:\submit folder:

C:\WINDOWS\tsc.exe
C:\WINDOWS\vsapi32.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\MACDec.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\MonkeySource.ax

Sorry for my late answer, I had to travel for may work.

Actually I performed a ad-aware scan with last update and it seems that my problem is gone...

Anyway, thank you for your support.

You may want to post a last log for review
