Hello,

░First of all, you are still using a previous version of hijackthis.. so please update your version by starting hijackthis,
click on the 'misc tools'>Check for update online. Download the new version (1.99.1), unzip it and make sure you put it in an permanent folder.
(If the update option doesn't work, please download your new version here)

It's better to print this out or save into notepad, because you will have to work into safe mode, and this page wouldn't be available then.

Download remv3.zip
You will find remv3.zip as an attachement there, so download it.
Unzip all the files to a permanent folder.

*Enable the öShow Hidden Files and Foldersö option:
Click Start.
Open My Computer.
Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
Select the View Tab. Under the Hidden files and folders heading, select Show hidden files and folders.
Uncheck: Hide file extensions for known file types
Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
Click Yes to confirm.
Click OK.

*Start hijackthis and place a checkmark before the following items if still present:

Yes, your log looks clean again!

Maybe one small note.. I don't advise you to let bearshare start up together with your windows. So, it's better to disable this from startup.
Go to start > run > type: msconfig
Choose the tab: startups and uncheck Bearshare in there.
Click apply and ok.

Actually, bearshare is one of the p2p-programs that installs spyware too. There are better alternatives. Read here which are infected and not infected with spyware:
http://www.spywareinfo.com/articles/p2p/
This is your own choice ofcourse.

Glad I could help you.

What I strongly advise you to do is... Update your windows!!
You don't have even SP2 installed. Your system is really vulnerable and malware can be installed very easy. So visit ASAP http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com to install the latest updates.
Another thing I noticed... You are running 2 antivirusscanners on your system. Several together can give problems, cause a slow system and decreases the reliability of it seriously! So I advise you to uninstall one. If I were you, I would keep Avast and uninstall Norton. The choice is yours ofcourse.

To keep this clean in the future, I would suggest the following things:

Install Spywareblaster
SpywareBlaster doesn`t scan and clean for so-called spyware, but prevents it from being installed in the first place. It blocks the popular spyware ActiveX controls, and also prevents the installation of any of them via a webpage.

Let your antispywarescanner(s) scan frequently and don't forget to update before.

And I do suggest you do an online virusscan once in a while. (housecall and/or Bitdefender). Because what one virusscanner can't find another one maybe can.
Also make sure that your virusscanner, the one that is installed on your system is always up to date!

Make sure your windows has the latest updates: http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/

More info on how to prevent malware you can also find here (By Tony Klein)
