Hi!

Right, After binning my last laptop because it got the worm bagle with wintems.exe and hldrrr.exe I now have a new laptop with vista home premium Os
I've installed AVG and Spybot SAD
What else should I install so that it's bullet proof?
Should I install a firewall or any other software?

Please advise

Hello,

I would certainly recommend a firewall but a system can never be completely bullet proof unfortunately.
http://www.iexbeta.com/wiki/index.php/Wind...lls_.2F_IDS.27s is a link for applications that work with vista including security products.
Regards,

Alan.

Most infections (IME) are the result of the user unknowingly allowing something to bypass the protection that's in place. It's why ActiveX has received such bad press - because it's easy to fool someone.

Take a look at this forum for more info about available protection: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/f/25/antivirus-firewall-and-privacy-products-and-protection-methods/

FWIW - I'm happy with AVG free, Windows Defender and the Windows Firewall.
My browser caused a flood of traffic, sio my IP address was banned. Hope to fix it soon. Will get back to posting as soon as Im able.

It's not just the obvious opening of files - it's everything that you click on while surfing the web. It's email, and it's opening downloaded stuff without scanning it first.
