I would like to get some opinions on which is better. I have two ide hard drives that I would like to connect to my mother board but the only ide connection is being used by my optical drives. I have been told two different options: use an ide to sata adaptor and use the sata connection or use a pci card with an ide controller. Any help or opinions will be greatly appreciated, thank you.

If you have the PCI slot I would use the IDE to PCI card.

Family and loved ones will always be a priority in my daily life.  You never know when one will leave you.

I'm with dc3 on this. Get the PCI card, easier and more stable.

Thank you for the advice I appreciate it. Would you use a master/slave configuration or would you connect each hard drive individually to the pci card. What I have is a new 500 gig drive and a 20 gig drive from an older computer that died.

If you are purchasing something like this Promise IDE to PCI controller you will need to configure the two hdds as master and slave.

Family and loved ones will always be a priority in my daily life.  You never know when one will leave you.
