My Internet Explorer is not going to my default page but to microsoft.com and it asks me to install the IE7 I didn't want it and thought it would go away (I was happy with IE6) anyway, to try and solve the problem I have downloaded it 2 (because 1st time still same problem). I set it and been using it for many years...just occurred.

What I have also noticed is my PC beeps in the background has if a command as been made and the title bar goes light blue in colour thus stops me using it for that moment. This happens on other applications i.e. Internet Explorer, Word.

I ran HiJack this and spotted 1 'name' I did not recognize and read up that it needed to go, so I deleted it.

Can you advise me please.

Many Thanks

What happens if you try to change the home page to something other than microsoft.com?

Hi Budapest

Thank you for a speedy response.

When I initally click on the internet icon it starts with the microsoft site and then I click on the home icon and what should be my default page appears.

If I go in tools, internet options it shows the one I want and used for a long time, virginmedia.

Also do you have any idea about the beeps I keep hearing???

may one ask which programs you have already run to check your computer for infections

also, if you go to your desk top and locate your IE icon , right mouse click your IE icon , and look at properties and the General tab, what address is shown AS the Home page?

(also dare one ask which line it was you chose to remove from your HJT log?)

OPPS; did not want the whole log;your thread will now need to be moved to the HJT section

also you state you have used a Combo fix; this is NOT a tool to be used without EXPERT supervision

one hopes you have not done any damage to your system as a result of using that tool unsupervised

if you DO have the log from superantispyware that would be helpful

To retrieve the removal information after reboot, launch SUPERAntispyware again.
Click Preferences, then click the Statistics/Logs tab.
Under Scanner Logs, double-click SUPERAntiSpyware Scan Log.
If there are several logs, click the current dated log and press View log.
A text file will open in your default text editor.
Please copy and paste the Scan Log results in your next reply.
Click Close to exit the program.

I have suggested to admin that this IS moved to the Log section as you have done both a log and a Combo fix on this computer and I for one would not wish ANYTHING to be overlooked with a combofix done under NON supervised conditions as has happened here

good luck with getting cleaned and your home page AS HOME

Before you possibly make your PC unseable by taking more things Off with the HJT tool I am moving this log to The proper forum where supervision of HiJack logs is done.

Your Log can be found here and is Titled Homepage Hijacked. If you have any questions feel free to PM the Staff.

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/136691/homepge-hijacked/

Now that your log is properly posted, you should NOT make further changes to your computer (install/uninstall programs, use special fix tools, delete files, edit the registry, etc) unless advised by a HJT Team member, nor should you continue to ask for help elsewhere. Doing so can result in system changes which may not show it the log you already posted. Further, any modifications you make on your own may cause confusion for the helper assisting you and could complicate the malware removal process which would extend the time it takes to clean your computer.

From this point on the HJT Team should be the only members that you take advice from, until they have verified your log as clean.

Please be patient. It may take a while to get a response because the HJT Team members are very busy working logs posted before yours. They are volunteers who will help you out as soon as possible. Once you have made your post and are waiting, please DO NOT make another reply until it has been responded to by a member of the HJT Team. Generally the staff checks the forum for postings that have 0 replies as this makes it easier for them to identify those who have not been helped. If you post another response there will be 1 reply. A team member, looking for a new log to work may assume another HJT Team member is already assisting you and not open the thread to respond.

If after 5 days you still have received no response, then post a link to your HJT log in the thread titled "Haven't Had A Reply In Five Days?".

To avoid confusion, I am closing this topic.
