I installed SJ automatically and it is set as default. I didn't uninstall Microsoft VM. Under tools...int options..security, there is a check mark under the last option on MVM.. "JIT compiler for MVM". Should I uncheck it? And am I now able to safely use Java? Thanks

Yes you are safe to use Sun Java . Microsft's Java machine was borrowed from sun systems. You may want to disable jushed.exe in your task manager just eats up system resources.
