My computer is infected with DCADS. I keep getting weird behaviour with the system(popups showing up randomly). Can somebody help me to get rid of this. I have HijackThis installed, and can give the log if needed. Thanks in advance for your help.

Hello premchandj,

In order to assist you we need additional information.

What is your operating system: Windows XP, Vista, etc.?

What security programs do you have installed? Please name them.

What alerted you to DCADS?

What kind of popups are you getting? What do they say? What do they look like?

Please DO NOT do anything with HiJack This. We do not use that in this forum. If it is determined that you need to post an HiJack This log, we will provide you with directions at that time.

Hi,
Thanks for your reply. Here are the details you had wanted

> What is your operating system: Windows XP, Vista, etc.?
Windows XP

> What security programs do you have installed? Please name them.
i have SuperAntiSpyware and symantec antivirus installed

> What alerted you to DCADS?
SuperAntiSpyware alerted me, and i did the quarantine/remove, but to no avail. I keep seeing pop up ads every once in a while, which alerted me to DCADS

> What kind of popups are you getting? What do they say? What do they look like?
I think it says something like "Ads served by DCADS".....or something like that

If you need any more info, please let me know.

Thanks
- prem

Hello premchandj,

Which version of SUPERAntiSpyware do you have installed? They have come out with version 4 now. Did you run the scan in Safe Mode?

Do you have the Home or Pro edition of XP, and do you have Service Pack 1 or Service Pack 2 installed?

Hello premchandj, Removal of this infection will require the use of tools not permiited in this forum.
Please follow the instructions in the BC tutorial Preparation Guide for use before posting a HijackThis Log

Once you have created the log please post it in this forum HijackThis Logs and Malware Removal ,not here.

If you have questions on this ,you may post them here.

Hello premchandj,

In your previous thread here: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/134371/help-needed-adrotator-fotomoto-infection/ you were instructed to post an HJT log in the proper forum if you were still experiencing malware issues. Instead, you posted anew in this forum without informing us of the previous thread and in the end received the same instructions. You have now posted an HJT log here: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/136986/infected-with-dcads-adrotator-and-much-more-please-help/ Because you have posted this log DO NOT make any further changes to your computer: deleting files, editing the registry, using special fix tools, installing or uninstalling software etc. as this will make it more difficult for the HJT team to help you.

Please be patient as the HJT team is EXTREMELY busy. DO NOT bump your log as the team may think that someone is already helping you. If you have not had a response by, let's say April 7, add a response to the five days no response topic and paste in the link to your thread.

Note: Even when the computer begins to function better, that does not mean the infection or infections are completely gone. Please keep the the HJT thread until your helper has declared you clean.

To avoid confusion, I am closing this topic. Good luck with your log.
