I have bell expressvu satellite and I am looking at routing it through my PC to record and (eventually) watch TV on my PC (recording is prime objective). And also have it run back to my TV set. PC is just a middle man. I want the satellite signal to go to my PC before it goes to the TV set. (In the near future I will be eliminating the TV set all-together and using my PC as my TV set).

Do I need a TV tuner, or can the satellite receiver (for right now) work as the tuner? I just want the image through my video card on my PC monitor and record it.

Do I need a sound card?

Thanks, Caspersim

Hello,

You should have a cable from the satelite going into a reciever. From what I understand, you would need to take the cable and put it in a decoder/TV card in order for it to work correctly.

I am by no means an expert on this but in theory it should work.

Also to improve the audio quality you should consider investing in a sound card unless the onboard chip is sufficient for your needs.
Regards,

Alan.
