Usb Not Working

Hi when i put usb in to my computer to connect my phone nothing happens,but my sons one works on a different usb same computer .When i used to put usb on I would get a icon on toolbar saying you can safely remove hardware if you did no t click on the message and just pulled out the usb the computer would make a noise now nothing any tips thank you :thumbsup:

pulling out the device(unplugging) while the computer is on and not using the safely remove option burns uip the usb circuits in the device, it creates a voltage surge

a friend keeps burning his usb thumb drives that way, my daughter burned up her usb wireless adapter
